Melancholie der Engel is an extreme film that is definitely not for everyone. Maria Dora leaves nothing to the imagination as he shows the most gruesome side of mankind for a full two and a half hours, without giving the audience anything they can relate to.

With reviews such as “the most extreme, gruesome and hardest film ever,” you know what you are getting in to. What Dora ultimately creates are wonderfully structured scenes that are beautifully shot, exactly what we would expect of him. Only don’t try to find any morality in the film -- there is none.
